Women from across Canada who have blazed trails in politics, economic development and are shaping the social fabric of our country join us in Halifax! After we hear from presenters, Senator Martin and Lee Malleau, CEO of Economic Development for the City of Vancouver, attendees will be invited to ask questions and maybe even test a business pitch on our Dragons' Den producer.

Honourable Senator Yonah Martin

Former educator, working mother and community activist listens to a call to run for federal office; and when the votes are cast, she is 3% shy of defeating a formidable incumbent. Her attitude of gratitude and service did not go unnoticed and she was asked to represent us in the Senate of Canada. Daughter of a Japanese-born mother and a North Korean-born father, she embodies the tragic and beautiful legacy of Korea and is a symbol of hope of reunification. Yonah’s spirit and ability to bring all parties together to build peace is rooted in her identity as a Canadian of Korean descent; and she will share her stories of loss, failure and defeat to inspire us to hope, dream and believe in our own divine destiny.

Lee Malleau, CEO Vancouver Economic Development

Although she sits at the helm of economic development for one of the top city destinations in the world, Lee Malleau credits her time working in rural economic development and her time as a municipal councillor for a rural community for much of her training for this exciting role. She will share some of her experiences helping reverse economic challenges for communities in transition and her time working on sponsorship for the 2010 Olympics to ignite attendees and help us to work through fear mongering so we can take the risks required to make positive change.

Molly Duignan, Producer CBC’s Dragon’s Den

After four years and thousands of pitches on CBC's Dragons' Den -- Molly can tell you what your company is worth and show you how to explain why you’re worth it¦ in 90 seconds or less! Her ability to help perfect a pitch is something one in three Canadians watches every week. Find out how to communicate your vision beyond the boardroom, and what creative secrets can win over the Dragons. Her joy, honesty and ability to empower people to go after what they want is something everyone can benefit from.

Master of Ceremonies - Jennifer Gillivan

Director Partnerships & Communications CBC

CBC’s Dragon’s Den will host auditions the next day, March 5th in Halifax.

Barb Stegemann, first woman in Atlantic Canada to get a deal on Dragons' Den will say a few words on her experience.
